Groove Culture. and D2MG Hip Hop Society UNSW present to you Funk City, a 2v2 an all-styles battle that showcases funk music – as long as you’re funky, you can enter! We aim to bring the funky back to town and ooze a vibe that reminisces of 70’s. Mmmm..

• What? •
– 2v2 all-styles funk battle
– $150 cash prize for the funkiest team!
– Preliminaries in the style of Soul Train (http://bit.ly/mPWEbz)
– Lights, silhouettes of cities, posters of James Brown and Earth, Wind & Fire, and a disco ball to complete the boogie wonderland.

– Queen Street Studio, Heffron Hall, 34-40 Burton Street, Darlinghurst. 5-minute walk from the Museum Station.

– Doors open at 6:30 PM.
*Battlers, please arrive at 6:15 PM.

• How? •
– Standard entry for all: $10 per person.
– Pre-registered battlers: $8 per person.
*You may pre-register your team by posting on this event’s wall with your team’s name and team members’ names.

Dance to the Music Vol.1 @ Dsoul Dance Studio Melbourne Sat 12th Oct 2013

Dsoul studios are proud to have been around for five years and would like to celebrate that with the dancers of Melbourne by hosting a dance battle with a little twist.

The categories that will be ya’ll guys will compete in are:

• 1 VS 1 Popping/Locking
• 1 VS 1 House/Hip-hop
• 2 VS 2 Toprock/Breaking

Rules are simple, 1 minute tryout and then judges will pick out the top 16 dancers/pairs in each category.

✦So what is the twist?

In the top 8, one round with be Locking/House and next round be Popping/Hip-hop. 

In the breaking battle, one round will be toprocking while the other round will be powermoves/footwork/threading.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing the other styles you competing in it’s alright to just do one style. BUT if you do both styles you’ll have chance to get more points.
